Culinary Adventures & Michelin-Star Disappointments

Failed Michelin-Star Quest at Kam’s Roast Goose

Arriving in Hong Kong, we had our hearts set on visiting Kam’s Roast Goose, a Michelin-star restaurant famed for its succulent, crispy-skinned roast goose. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned—Kam’s Roast was sold out! 😭

“Travel doesn’t always go as planned, but that’s often when the magic happens. Like they say in Korea, when the popular restaurant is full, try the one next door—you might just discover something even better.”
– Jenny and Ian, Chasing the Chungs

After our failed Michelin-star quest, we stumbled upon Lung Dim Sum, a local gem blending traditional and modern dim sum with a creative twist. Having spent a month in Thailand, we were thrilled to finally indulge in some authentic dim sum. And while we initially planned to save our dim sum feast for the next day—let’s be honest, you can never have too much dim sum, right? 😉

The menu offered an exciting mix of classic favorites and fusion options, but the standout dish for us was the dan dan noodles. The broth was rich and creamy, with a bold peanut flavor that perfectly complemented the chewy, fresh noodles. It was comfort food at its finest!

🏨 Our Stay at Burlington Hotel: Location, Comfort, and Honest Feedback

For our 48 Hours in Hong Kong, we decided to stay at Burlington Hotel in Wan Chai, which we booked through Agoda. While we used to book frequently with Expedia, we’ve found that their prices tend to be higher, so now we alternate between Agoda, Booking.com, and Trip.com to find better deals. Burlington Hotel turned out to be a great find, offering a comfortable and clean space for our short stay in Hong Kong.

Burlington Hotel: Pros and Cons

Room Size: Like many Hong Kong hotels, the rooms at Burlington were compact. If you’re used to larger spaces, it may feel a bit tight, but for a short stay, it was more than enough.

Amenities: Due to Hong Kong’s no plastic policy, the room only came with basic toiletries like shampoo and body wash—no conditioner, which we missed. That said, the hotel’s eco-conscious effort is something we appreciate.

Double Bed: The room had a double bed, which was comfortable but might feel a little small for two people who prefer more space. Nonetheless, we had no issues with it during our stay.

Overall, we had a great stay at Burlington Hotel. The hotel’s prime location, cleanliness, and comfortable beds made it an ideal base for our quick visa run. While the rooms were on the smaller side and the amenities were minimal, the hotel offered good value for money. For a short stay in Hong Kong, we’d definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.
