Join us on an unforgettable journey through Chiang Mai, as we explore breathtaking natural wonders and dive into authentic Thai culture. This adventure highlights some of the region’s must-see spots, from the towering Wachirathan Waterfall to the bustling Chiang Mai Night Bazaar.
🌈 Wachirathan Waterfall: Nature at Its Finest
Our first stop is the stunning Wachirathan Waterfall, located in Doi Inthanon National Park. This 80-meter waterfall is not only a feast for the eyes but also a must-visit for nature lovers and adventurers alike. The best part? Our van dropped us off right in front of the waterfall, so all we had to do was walk up a short staircase to be greeted by this majestic sight.
I’ve heard that rainbows often form in the mist from the falls, but I wasn’t lucky enough to catch one during my visit. Still, the sheer beauty and power of the waterfall make it worth every moment!

🌼 Exploring the Inthanon Royal Gardens
After taking in the beauty of the waterfall, we head to the Inthanon Royal Project Research Station, where the Royal Gardens offer a tranquil escape. With vibrant flowers and stunning mountain views, these gardens are an ideal spot to unwind and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Ian and I opted out of the hike that the rest of our tour group did since it was raining. Instead, we were treated to a private tour of the Royal Gardens. While the garden was lovely, what we enjoyed most was the refreshing watermelon smoothie we sipped on as we reflected on the day. It was then we fully accepted that we’re not the roughing-it adventure type, but rather the smoothie-drinking, relaxing adventure type—and we’re okay with that!

🌳 Trekking the Ang Ka Nature Trail
Our next adventure takes us to the Ang Ka Nature Trail, which holds the title of Thailand’s highest nature walk. This serene trek through moss-covered forests offers fresh mountain air and beautiful greenery. The trail, surrounded by rich biodiversity, is a refreshing escape into nature, with the tranquil sounds of the forest accompanying you as you walk. It’s an ideal spot for those seeking a quiet, peaceful hike.

🏛️ Mystical King and Queen Pagodas
Just a short distance from the Ang Ka Nature Trail are the iconic King and Queen Pagodas, dedicated to the Thai monarchy. Perched atop Doi Inthanon, these twin pagodas offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains on clear days. However, on our visit, we were greeted by thick fog, which only added to the mystical atmosphere. While the panoramic views may be obscured during the rainy season, the fog gives the pagodas an ethereal charm that makes the visit memorable in its own right.
